Theo.Bits

Branding

Theo.Bits is a side account I manage which integrates my love for theology with good design. The mission is to equip Christians in the local church to search and interpret the Bible one bit at a time.

While theology can often feel inaccessible to most people, Instagram provides a perfect way to develop big ideas into bite-sized chunks (bits). With that in mind, I set out to create a brand trademark and visual design style that has slowly evolved over the years of owning the account.

The first iteration took advantage of big, bold colors coupled with line art. The second iteration took those colors, modified them and created multiple gradients with them.

The final iteration hits closer to home of where I want the brand to be, utilizing old imagery and textures with bold text.

Based on 1 Timothy 4:6-16 and 2 Timothy 3:10-17, I wanted to emphasize a few major ideas: We have an ancient faith, built on the confessions and doctrines of our forefathers. We must immerse ourselves in the Scriptures in order to rightly understand theology. The aim and goal of all of this is to be faithful stewards to pass down the faith to the next generation.

You can essentially sum it up with three words: Beholding. Obeying. Training. Beholding Christ in the Bible, obeying His commands, and training others to do the same.

The trademark is an open Bible with the cross at the center, holding the two testaments (Old and New) together. The main font is Warnock with the secondary font Avenir LT STD Heavy.
